2016 GMC Sierra SLT

Starting in 2005 I started a pattern of buying 10+ year old trucks. This went fairly well until I bought a 2003 Escalade in 2013. That truck was a lemon. No matter how much work I put into it it always needed more and I was pretty tired of making payments, buying parts, and spending time fixing it. I crunched some numbers and determined I could have a new truck for LESS per month than I had been laying out on the Escalade over the 10 months I owned it.

Granted, I knew long term the Escalade would be much cheaper but this solidified the fact that I could, in fact, afford a NEW truck if I so wanted. So I went for it. My first new truck was a 2014 Silverado Z71 All Star edition. It was fantastic not doing a single thing but oil changes but the truck just wasn’t quite what I wanted. For the money it really bugged me it didn’t have leather seats or a center console.

After 2.5 years of that I started looking around. I disliked the 2016 Silverado redesign so I started shopping GMCs. We found what had to have been a special order: 2016 Sierra SLT, doublecab, 4×4, max trailering, Bose, heated/cooled seats, and heated steering wheel. I didn’t think the dealer and I would be able to come to terms I could live with but everything worked out.

3.5 years and 42,000 miles later I still love it especially with the mods I have done. More on that later!
