2015 BMW 335i xDrive
Just like my Sierra this car wasn’t Charlotte’s first dive into a new car. Rather it was the car she really wanted but was out of reach at the time. She started with a 2015 BMW 320i xDrive. While that car was well optioned it lacked some key features like two extra cylinders (I6 vs I4 engine), heated seats, and a heated steering wheel. Which is unacceptable for someone who is always cold!
After 3 years with the 320 the search began for a replacement. Given the cost of a new 335 (340 by 2018) the search was primarily for a CPO 335. As I’ve said finding a used car with the right options is often an exercise in patience and persistence checking to see what is out there every few days. As luck would have it Charlotte found the perfect car right at BMW of Madison. The only reason Charlotte didn’t miss out on it was due to the 2018 flooding. While it did not get flooded it sat on the back lot while the dealer worked through cars that did.
I couldn’t even tell you what all options this car has, and while it isn’t a M3 they sure want you to think so. It says ///M all over it. Upgraded brakes, M steering wheel, M seats, M performance engine cover, dual mode exhaust etc.
My first drive of the car after getting it home left me very impressed. Being a 3L I6 turbo I expected some turbo lag but it seems to have none. Just instant torque off idle. It feels fantastic. It has been a reliable car to boot although it has some odd quirks such as needing to lubricate the door seals and add air to the tires every few weeks.
