Time for Concrete

With Cleary’s work done concrete was the next task. I had to get my electric panel in before the concrete came. I dug a trench and connected to the feed that formally went to the old garage.

Pounding the 8′ ground rods in was surprisingly easy in the sandy soil.
Installed this temporary outlet for the concrete guys to use.
Ready for concrete.

I woke up earlier than normal due to noise outside. It seemed I had already slept through quite a bit because the vapor barrier was down, along with 2″ foam, and half of the concrete was already in place.

Up to this point I got pretty lucky with dry weather. There was basically zero damage to the grass. It was wet on concrete day and the trucks were almost getting stuck. They were having to throw sand down for traction. Luckily they all drove basically exactly where the driveway was going anyway.

Looking great!

My biggest disappointment with the garage addition at my old house was the saw cuts on the concrete. They were excessively wide, chipped, and wavy.

Concrete at the old house. Booo.
Fortunately this time I got razor straight saw cuts. Very very pleased.
That is a normal 3*7 entry door. The small garage door is 10*10 large 18*10.
