Creature Comforts

After finishing up with the supercharger project I left the FRC interior apart as I had a couple pending projects still.

I had struggled with the seats since I bought the car. My Dad’s Corvette had the optional “Sport” seats which I found to be SOOOOOOOOOO much more comfortable (even if they are a bit heavier.) You could not order a FRC (or later Z06) with the sport seats so fortunately there was a bit of info out there form people who undertook this project before me.

Step one was finding a set of sports seats. Everything on eBay was $1500 on up but I found a set at a local Corvette recycler for $650. They were frankly in worse shape than my original seats but I found I could recover them myself if I ever wanted to.

Picking up my “new” seats.
The old seats.

In order for the sport seats to work in a car that never had the option for them I needed to re-pin the harness on the driver’s side as well as repurpose the seat module (really just a relay board). In addition I had to build a harness and find power/ground for the passenger side as the OEM seat was manual.

I’m not sure how different than look in pictures but they totally transformed the car for me. Another step away from racecar towards an even faster and much more enjoyable street car.
