Car Trailer

The last time I had a car trailer it was a utility trailer that I reinforced and added trailer brakes, ramps, new fenders, a winch, and new decking.

Mark seems to be working hard in an awful lot of my pictures…Thanks Mark!
Looking good but it was a TON of work.
This picture was taken on the way to the scrapyard on November 2nd 2006:

By 2008 the trailer was traded for a Snap On tolbox and the truck sold. I only went about 4 months without a truck but I went 11 years without a trailer.

Having borrowed friends trailers time and time again to move cars and/or large heavy equipment I decided it was time to get my own again. I was not up for putting a ton of work into a project trailer again and I wanted something with a long dovetail and stowaway ramps. I watched Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for a couple months but only found overpriced junk. I started looking at new trailers but didn’t want to spend more than about $2500 and everything new that I liked was $4500 on up. Finally one popped up that checked enough boxes and I headed for Waukasha after work.

It was 3 years old but still looked brand new.
Nice long dovetail and stowaway ramps.

It looked as good in person as it did in the pictures. It wasn’t perfect as I’d have liked a wood deck trailer to be able to haul stuff but after they agreed to $2,000 I couldn’t say no! After a year of owning my Sierra I was finally able to use the towing mirrors and trailer brake controller.

Heading home.

The Olds wasn’t going anywhere…but I was out of room! So the Olds was to be stored on the trailer in the back of the shop. After the “restoration” of my last trailer turned to crap within a year I didn’t want to keep my trailer out in the elements if I could help it.
