The Ceiling: Intermission
My 2018 goal was to get the shop done….at least enough to be able to work on cars over the winter. That did not happen, but a ton of work did and it was getting very close. Unfortunately once the snow hit it put the show on hold as we needed to roll most the cars outside to make room to work and that was going to be too difficult to do with snow outside.
I decided since I had a working heater and only the last bit of the shop wasn’t sealed up I would get the last of the vapor barrier up so that I could run the heater even if it wouldn’t be efficient. We used a 20*100 sheet for most of the shop and it was incredibly difficult to get the 20′ sections up. The other problem was the our first joint ended up in a bad spot and was very difficult to tape. I decided to finish it with 8′ wide rolls so I could land the joints on trusses so it would be much easier to tape them even though that meant I’d have about 4′ of overlap.
I had to take the garage door brackets down to put the vapor barrier up then make new brackets. I held them up with a couple 2*6s. The last step was getting the seams taped up. It was much easier with them landing on the trusses. Charlotte was a lot better at it than me so she took over.
