The Big Push

With both the engine and drivetrain ready to go it was time to put the car back together. Back in 2016 I had good luck putting the whole engine in with everything but the alternator (does not clear the frame rail) and intake manifold (need it off to do wiring). The only complication this time around was the radiator and fans were in the car so it would be an even tighter squeeze. I don’t have any action shots as it is a pretty involved process even with Charlotte’s help but we managed to get the engine/subframe installed without damaging anything.

Same story as above with installing the torque tube/transaxle assembly. Just like 2016 it fought us but eventually it slide into place. However, it was being held up by the transmission jack so we had to get the rear subframe up and bolted in place yet.

Almost back together.
Hit a snag trying to install the shifter. The shift rod/collar was wedged so bad between the shifter box and body of the car not even a large prybar could move it. Fortunately I was able to lower both subframes down 1/2″ fairly easily and it slid right out. Crisis averted!

Another evening of odds and ends (starter, intake, wiring, bleeding clutch/brakes etc) and it was the moment of truth.

Success!
The all important first drive. Yay!!!
