Concrete

Within months of buying the house the coating on the sidewalk around the house garage started to flake off taking the top layer of the concrete below it with it. We’ll fix it someday.

Every winter as I’d shovel and even walk between the house and shop I’d think how nice it would be to have a concrete sidewalk there. Shoveling would be easier. Weeding would be easier. And it would be a lot safer to walk on a sidewalk than pavers in the dark. Someday we’ll put in a sidewalk.

When I had the gravel put down for the trailer parking area on the side of the shop I figured I’d dislike gravel and get concrete…someday it’ll be paved.

Fast forward to spring 2021 we decided someday is now. We signed a contract in April, told it would happen in 3-4 weeks. Like the shop driveway, weeks turned to months but we finally got a call in mid June that they would be doing the work at the end of the week. Unfortunately that was one of two weeks all year we would be gone. We let them know they said ok we’ll reschedule. I thought this would mean a few more weeks. Once again weeks turned to months but we finally got another call in late August. My parent’s happened to be visiting at the time which would complicate everything but there was no way we were telling them no again!

It was a crazy two days and I wasn’t able to capture much but this shows the changes:
