We bought…A Buick?

Wellllll…the Camaro turned out to be an awesome car but a lousy “daily driver”. It can’t haul much, isn’t ideal for driving more than a couple hours, and the truck is just too big to try to park when Charlotte travels for work.

So we decided we needed another sedan of some sort as our primary vehicle. What started as an idea to find more of a “beater” became more and more expensive until we were shopping for a new Honda/Toyota/Nissan due to the crazy prices on used cars. But as we went and test drove each, we dismissed them as unacceptable for one reason or another. We decided to shift our focus yet again this time on a more luxury car. We dismissed Acura and Lexus, but kinda sorta liked the Infiniti Q50 with the right options.

Before we test drove anything I had gone through every single make I could think of and on paper a 2018-2020 Buick Regal GS seemed like it’d be a great fit. The problem is it is a pretty rare car and in months of looking there had not been one within driving distance for sale. Right after we missed out on what appeared to be a winning Q50, a 2018 Buick Regal GS popped up for sale in Chicagoland. I found it on a Sunday night listed with no details and the only picture was the generic “Coming Soon” silhouette.

I called them first thing Monday morning, got a few pictures but were told it was not going to be ready for sale until Tuesday. Then on Tuesday that turned into Wednesday and we didn’t think Wednesday would happen either but they told us to head down. We hit the road ready to make a deal if the car’s condition was as described AND if a Regal GS turned out to be the car we were hoping it was. The car checked out and and we hit the road….but not before I convinced Charlotte to try White Castle for the first time:

Our first stop with the new car.
Following Charlotte home.
It has the most comfortable seats of any car I’ve ever driven. “AGR” Certified.
310hp on 87 octane
Torque Vectoring AWD
The dealer’s detail job sucked but it wasn’t hard to fix.

We’ve had it a couple months now and are really glad we bought it.
